Canadian guard Kevin Pangos is heading to Lithuania for the 2016-17 basketball season.

The 23-year-old from Holland Landing, Ont., has agreed to a contract with Zalgiris Kaunas of the EuroLeague. The deal is for one year, with an option for a second.

Pangos spent his first pro season in 2015-16 with Spanish club Gran Canaria and averaged 11.2 points and 4.8 assists in 19 EuroCup games.

He shot 51.2 per cent from three-point range, helping his club to the Copa del Rey final and the Spanish League playoffs, and was named to the All-EuroCup second team.

The six-foot-three point guard won the West Coast Conference player of the year as a senior with the NCAA's Gonzaga Bulldogs in 2014-15, but wasn't selected at the NBA draft.

Zalgiris Kaunas opens its season Oct. 14 against Greek club Panathinaikos Athens.

"Excited to announce I have officially signed with @bczalgiris in the @EuroLeague for next season! #Lietuva," Pangos tweeted.
