SALT LAKE CITY — Canada scored five unanswered tries in the first half Friday en route to a dominant 52-17 win over England in the opening match of the Women's Rugby Super Series.

The victory marks just the third time Canada has beaten England in 24 meetings. It was also a measure of revenge for the fifth-ranked Canadian women, who lost the 2014 World Cup final to No. 2 England.

Julianne Zussman scored two tries with singles from Mary-Jane Kirby, Emily Belchos, Chelsea Guthrie, Barbara Mervin and Katie McNally.

Canada led 29-0 after 30 minutes, 39-0 at the half and 44-0 early in the second half. England got second-half tries from Katie Wilson, Millie Wood and Bianca Blackburn.

Canada plays defending Six Nation champion France on Tuesday.
