VANCOUVER - Michelle Pawluk and Tess Dusik each scored three goals and Abby Ryplanski made 13 saves as Manitoba hammered British Columbia 13-0 Friday at the national women's under-18 hockey championship.
Manitoba outshot B.C. 57-13 and finished to 2-1 in round-robin play, clinching a semifinal berth. B.C. fell to 0-3.
Five-time champions Ontario Red finished at the top of the standings after beating low-ranked Saskatchewan 4-1.
Theadora Imbrogno had a goal and an assist for Ontario Red (3-0).
Shelby Nisbet had the lone goal for Saskatchewan (0-3).
Gabrielle Davidson had two goals and two assists as Quebec blanked Alberta 5-0. Cloe Desjardins made 29 saves for the shutout. Both teams finished 2-1, but while Quebec made the semifinals, Alberta missed out on goal differential.
Kristen Richards and Rylee Smith scored shootout goals as Ontario Blue edged Atlantic 4-3. Ontario Blue finished 2-1 and made the semifinals, while Atlantic fell to 1-2.
Ontario Red and Manitoba will meet in one of Saturday's semifinals, while Ontario Blue and Quebec face off in the other.
The medal games will be played Sunday.
