CHARLOTTETOWN -- Canada improved to 2-0 at the World Sledge Hockey Challenge with a 1-0 win over Norway on Wednesday night.

With the win, Canada locked up a berth in Saturday's gold-medal game. Norway, outshot 17-4, drops to 0-2 and needs help on Thursday to advance to the semifinal.

After a scoreless first, Jean Labonte of Gatineau, Que., opened the scoring at 5:14 of the second period.

The goal came after a goal-mouth scramble in front of Norwegian goaltender Roger Johansen. Billy Bridges of Summerside, P.E.I., and Brad Bowden of Orton, Ont., got the assists.

Norway's best chance came late in the second period when Tommy Rovelstad had the puck in the slot but fired high over the net.

Canadian goaltender Paul Rosen of Thornhill, Ont., made four saves for the shutout, his second in as many days.

In Wednesday's other game, the U.S. beat Japan 2-0.

Japan and the U.S. sit at 1-1.

Canada concludes its round robin Thursday night against Japan.
