CHARLOTTETOWN -- Taylor Chace's shorthanded goal 6:09 into overtime gave the U.S. a 3-2 win over Canada in the final of the World Sledge Hockey Challenge on Saturday.
With Jim Connelly in the penalty box for roughing, Chace beat Canadian netminder Paul Rosen as the Americans avenged a 4-0 loss to Canada in the round robin.
Bubba Torres forced extra time for the U.S., tying the game with just 59 seconds left in regulation. Tim Jones added a second-period goal in the win, while Steve Cash made 11 saves.
Billy Bridges and Greg Westlake had goals for Canada, which fell short in its quest to win a third consecutive title. The Canadians dominated the round robin, outscoring its opponents 10-0 along the way.
Earlier Saturday, Tommy Rovelstad scored twice as Norway beat Japan 4-0 in the third-place game.
