Canada will have to battle for the bronze medal against Finland without the services of forward Boone Jenner.
Jenner, as well as Russian defenceman Ildar Isangulov, were handed one-game suspensions by the International Ice Hockey Federation for separate incidents in Tuesday's semi-final game between the teams.
Isangulov will miss the gold medal game versus Sweden, while Jenner will miss the bronze medal game on Thursday.
The incidents occurred at 15:44 of the second period. Isangulov committed the initial foul on the play - a check to the head and neck area of Jenner. Isangulov was assessed a minor penalty for elbowing, but the disciplinary hearing determined upon review that Isangulov's action was actually a shoulder hit to the head.
Jenner was then assessed a major and a game misconduct for spearing the mid-section of Russian captain Yevgeni Kuznetsov, who had skated in and made a comment to Jenner following the Isangulov hit.
