MEMMINGEN, Germany -- The Canadian under-22 women's hockey team defeated Germany 8-1 on Wednesday in an exhibition game ahead of the Meco Cup.
Marie-Philip Poulin had a hat trick while Jessica Campbell, Sarah Davis, Erin Ambrose, Carolyne Prevost and Brianne Jenner scored one goal apiece.
Head coach Pierre Alain was impressed with his team's performance.
"Energy-wise, it was very good," Alain said. "It was our first game together and communication and cohesion was pretty good."
Julia Zorn had the lone goal for Germany.
Canada opens round-robin play Thursday against Switzerland. The playoff games are set for Sunday.
Sweden won the Meco Cup last year while Canada settled for a third-place finish.
