Strome has four points as Ontario beat Sweden at U-17

NORTH SYDNEY, N.S. -- Dylan Strome had two goals and an assist to lead Ontario past Sweden 6-3 in the fifth-place game Friday at the world under-17 hockey challenge.

Lawson Crouse added two goals for the winners while Mitchel Vande Sompel and Brett McKenzie had the others. Lucas Carlsson, Anton Kalte and Rasmus Asplund replied for Sweden.

In the ninth-place game, West edged Germany 4-3 as Ryan Gardiner's goal eight minutes into the third period proved to be the winner. Jackson Keane, Jesse Gabrielle and Colt Conrad also scored.

Julian Napravnik, Dimitri Komnik and Simon Schuetz replied for Germany.

The seventh-place game between Atlantic and the Czech Republic was postponed due to weather. It has been rescheduled for Saturday in Port Hawkesbury, N.S.

Later on Friday, Russia faces Pacific in one semifinal while Quebec takes on the U.S. in the other. The two winners face off in the tournament final Saturday.
