Whithrow, Pirlot lead Weyburn over Edmonton at Esso Cup

HAMILTON, Ont. - Jenica Whitrow and Cassidy Pirlot each had a goal and two assists as the Weyburn Gold Wings remained undefeated at the Esso Cup midget women's hockey championship with a 4-2 win over the Edmonton Thunder on Monday.

Bailee Bourassa added a goal and an assist for Weyburn (2-0-0-0), while Caitlin Dempsey also scored.

Alexandra Poznikoff had a goal and an assist and Jessica Healey scored for Edmonton (1-1-0-0).

Jane Kish made 18 saves for the Gold Wings, while Tracie Kikuchi stopped 19 shots for the Thunder.

After a scoreless first period, Whithrow opened the scoring at 10:41 of the second.

Healy replied on a power play less than two minutes later and the game was tied 1-1 after 20 minutes.
