USA's Abdelkader, Kazakhstan's Antropov suspended by IIHF

Justin Abdelkader of Team USA and Nikolai Antropov of Kazakhstan were suspended by the IIHF Disciplinary Committee for separate incidents at the 2014 World Hockey Championship in Minsk, Belarus.

Abdelkader was suspended three games for a check to the head and neck area of Czech player Vladimir Sobotka in the quarterfinals.

Antropov checked Swiss forward Kevin Romy to the head and neck area in the preliminary roundand was handed an automatic one-game suspension that was served during the tournament.

The IIHF added a further suspension of two games for a total of three games, meaning he will miss the first two games next year.
