The Montreal Canadiens assigned 17 players to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League on Sunday.

Eight players were also released from training camp and forward Nikita Scherbak was assigned to the Everett Silvertips of the Western Hockey League.

Mac Bennett, Tim Bozon, Daniel Carr, Michael Condon, Morgan Ellis, Joe Finley, T.J. Hensick, Charles Hudon, Patrick Holland, David Makowski, Magnus Nygren, Bobby Shea, Nick Sorkin were assigned to Hamilton while Connor Crisp, Stefan Fournier, Jack Nevins and Dalton Thrower were also sent down but are injured.

Justin Baker, Riley Brace, Joël Chouinard, Tanner Eberle, Sahir Gill, Stefano Momesso, Evan Wardley, Zach Yuen were released.

There are still 35 players at camp, including 20 forwards, 11 defensemen and four goaltenders.

The Bulldogs will travel to St. John's, Newfoundland on Tuesday to continue their training camp. They will play three games vs the St. John's Icecaps in October.
