Montreal Canadiens defenceman Alexei Emelin did not travel with the team to New York and will not be in the lineup for Game 3 against the Rangers Sunday night, according to TSN's John Lu.

Emelin, 30, missed the last two games of the regular season and the first two games of the playoffs with a lower-body injury suffered against the Buffalo Sabres on April 5.

The veteran has two goals and eight assists over 76 games with the Habs in 2016-17, his sixth season with the club.

Montreal tied their opening round series with the Rangers Friday night at one game apiece with a dramatic overtime victory.
