MONTREAL - The Montreal Canadiens assigned forward Sven Andrighetto to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League on Saturday.

The team made the announcement after its 2-1 overtime loss to the Pittsburgh Penguins.

Andrighetto played on a line Saturday night with Christian Thomas — who was recalled from the Bulldogs on Thursday — and Michael Bournival. He had 10:53 of ice time and went minus-1.

In 12 games with Montreal, Andrighetto recorded two goals and three points. In 21 games with Hamilton, the 21-year-old has recorded nine goals and 18 points.

In 85 career AHL regular-season games with the Bulldogs, the Switzerland native has 26 goals and 62 points.

The five-foot-nine, 186-pound forward was selected by the Canadiens in the third round (86th overall) of the 2013 NHL draft.
