Caps top season-ending 7-Eleven Power Rankings

Montreal and Edmonton are the top Canadian teams, while a natural hat-trick of Canadian teams start the post-season just outside the Top 10.

Braden Holtby

The President’s Trophy-winning Washington Capitals are the unanimous choice for No.1 in the season-ending 7-Eleven Power Rankings.

All five voters – Ray Ferraro, Jeff O’Neill, Jamie McLennan, Craig Button and Darren Dreger - slotted the Capitals at the top entering the playoffs. Filling out the consensus top five are Chicago (2), Pittsburgh (3), Anaheim (4) and Edmonton (5).

A natural hat-trick of Canadian teams start the post-season just outside the top 10: No. 11 Ottawa, No. 12 Calgary and No. 13 Toronto.

The Senators made the biggest jump of the week, climbing five places (from 16 to 11) after recording three critical wins before losing a meaningless game on the final day of the regular season.
