With the position still unsettled, the Buffalo Bills gave first-team reps quarterbacks to Matt Cassel on the first day of training camp Friday.

Tyrod Taylor was the second quarterback up, while EJ Manuel and Matt Simms assumed the third and fourth string roles. According to media accounts, all four quarterbacks struggled, with Cassel noticeably under-throwing WR Sammy Watkins during 11-on-11 drills.

The Bills acquired Cassel from the Minnesota Vikings last March along with a sixth-round pick in exchange for a fifth-round pick in 2015 and a seventh-round pick in 2016. The 32-year old QB started in the Vikings’ first three games this past season before being sidelined with a foot injury.

After struggling through OTAs with the Bills, Cassel is considered to be on the roster bubble for the Bills.

The 10-year veteran has a 33-38 record as a starter suiting up for the Vikings, Chiefs and Patriots.
