A very important aspect in football is the chemistry between the quarterback and receiver. It’s something that can either happen naturally or after countless hours to work. No matter how long it takes, though once chemistry is built, it will always be there. And it was definitely on display this past week, specifically with the Tiger-Cats, whose players led the charge in Fantasy scoring. Here is the best of Week 10 in TSN Fantasy Football, CFL Edition, presented by Moores.

Passers

Zach Collaros, Hamilton – Since returning from a serious knee injury in Week Eight, Collaros has already returned to the form that made him the 2015 MOP front runner. This past week against one of the best overall defenses in the Stampeders, he completed 34 of 53 passes for 439 yards and three touchdowns in the road loss. Collaros’ 53 pass attempts was the most throws by a quarterback in a game this season. Over the past three weeks, the Cincinnati product had led the league in passing yards (1,151) and touchdowns (10).

Mike Reilly, Edmonton – The CFL’s passing leader had a solid overall day on the gridiron against his former coach. He threw 21 of 26 passes for 253 yards, two scores and one interception to beat the Roughriders at home. After the first half, it looked like the game was going to turn into a blowout but Saskatchewan closed the gap and made it interesting. Instead of using his arm to ice the game, the Central Washington product used his legs. He rushed seven times for 45 yards and one diving touchdown to put the game out of reach.

Darian Durant, Saskatchewan – The first season for the Roughriders under head coach and general manager Chris Jones has not gone exactly to plan, especially for Durant, to say the least. The 11-year veteran started 2016 in the right direction, but once again got injured in Week Four. Since the injury the quarterback hasn’t played like himself, until this past week. He completed 27 of 38 passes for 314 yards, and also added two rushing touchdowns in the team’s road loss to Edmonton. It marked the first time since Week Three that Durant has put up more than 20 Fantasy points.

Runners

Shakir Bell, Edmonton – The 5’8 running back turned heads last year tallying 897 total yards and averaging 6.45 yards per touch in his rookie season. Going into Week 10 this year, the Indiana State product has not touched the ball once, but has shown he’s ready to play whenever his number is called. He had 18 carries for 138 rushing yards, while adding 32 yards and a touchdown through the air. It’s safe to say that Bell has put himself back in the conversations for the feature back role in Edmonton.

Andrew Harris, Winnipeg – The Canadian back continues to be the impact player the Blue Bombers knew he was capable of being when they signed him this past off season. He compiled 131 yards and a touchdown on 21 touches in a 32-18 victory over the Alouettes. During his hometown team’s four-game winning streak, the Winnipeg native has found the end zone in all four games. It’s the first time he’s done that in his career. The Bombers offense continues to get better with each passing week, and Harris is setting the tone as the catalyst behind it all.

Jerome Messam, Calgary – The other big Canadian tailback was not to be outdone by Harris this past week. The league leader in yards per carry piled up 90 yards and a score on 19 touches in a home win over the Ticats. Similar to Harris, for the first time in Messam’s own career he’s found the end zone in four consecutive games. The Toronto native has already tied a career high in touchdowns (6), and is on pace to eclipse his career-highs in rushing and receiving yards.

Receivers

Terrence Toliver, Hamilton – While watching the Tiger-Cats battle the Stampeders, it seemed Toliver was always open no matter the coverage. A player could have been on his back and somehow the LSU product would come down with the football. He snagged nine throws for 183 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the loss. The only player that had more points in Fantasy this week only beat Toliver by 2.66 points, and that was Zach Collaros, the quarterback throwing to him. With every passing week, the 28-year-old is putting his name in the conversation as one of best wideouts in the league and how can one disagree with that? Since returning in Week Five, he’s averaged a touchdown reception, has put up triple digits in receiving yards in three of the last four games and most importantly has hit the double-digit mark in Fantasy points in every week. He’s turning into a must have player in Fantasy on a week-to-week basis.

Luke Tasker, Hamilton – While Toliver is impacting the game down the field with big plays, his teammate Luke Tasker is making an impact in the short game. He grabbed 10 balls for 100 yards and a score in the road loss to Calgary. Since the return of quarterback Collaros, the 25-year-old has caught a touchdown reception in every game. These types of numbers are not anything new for the Cornell product. Before Collaros went down with a knee injury in September of 2015, Tasker racked up 667 receiving yards in eight games. He missed the first five weeks with an injury. Don’t be surprised if the four-year veteran continues to be one of Collaros’ favourite targets moving forward.

Naaman Roosevelt, Saskatchewan  – Even with the rough 1-8 record to start the year, the Roughriders do have a bright star shining on the team in Roosevelt. In his first full CFL season, including offseason, he has grown into one of the best overall wide receivers and showed it against the Eskimos. He recorded a career-high 11 receptions for 175 yards, marking the fourth time this season that the 28-year-old hit the century mark in a game. Comparing him with the rest of the league’s top receivers, Roosevelt ranks first in targets (92), second in catches (62) and fourth in receiving yards (877). The Buffalo, N.Y. native is doing this without a definite number two target on the squad. He has 32 grabs and 478 yards more than the next receiver in the province.

Notes

In his first game since Week Two, Redblacks’ running back Travon Van didn’t miss a beat, as he put up 70 yards on 18 touches and found the end zone in the team’s road loss. Stamps pivot Bo Levi Mitchell had a normal stat line by his standards, going 27 of 37 for 323 yards and a TD, keeping his team undefeated at home in 2016. In his return from a knee and ankle injury, Ottawa’s pivot Trevor Harris tossed 23 of 30 for 352 yards and a score in his first loss as a starter for the Redblacks. Three of his receivers put up big numbers in the road loss. Greg Ellingson caught five balls for 142 yards. Chris Williams was close behind hauling in five throws for 116 yards and finally Ernest Jackson made three grabs for 41 yards and a score. Jackson has found the end zone in four straight games. Eskimos’ receiver Derel Walker had a quiet night by his standards this week grabbing just three passes for 50 yards and a touchdown. Roughriders’ versatile player Kendial Lawrence finished with 49 total yards and a score in his team’s loss.
