Another day, another hurdle for Nik Lewis. Slowly but surely, the veteran Calgary Stampeders slotback is working his way back from a concussion suffered on an inadvertent knee to the head during practice last week. Lewis, who was forced to miss the Week 3 CFL win in Toronto over the weekend, returned to practice in a limited fashion Tuesday.

Looks as though the Stamps linebacking corps will be severely shorthanded Friday. LB Deron Mayo (hamstring) and LB Keon Raymond (leg) did not practise Tuesday. "Deron is very doubtful for the game," Hufnagel said. "I'm hopeful Keon can practise (Wednesday), but probably doubtful, also."

DT Junior Turner (knee) practised and is inching closer to a return. The 25-year-old has been sidelined since early June. - Calgary Sun

A day after leaving practice early, receiver Nik Lewis watched from the sidelines on Thursday. "With Nik, unfortunately late in practice [Wednesday] he accidentally got hit in the head and is having some symptoms, so he's out of the game," said Calgary head coach John Hufnagel, who described RB Jon Cornish's chances of playing this weekend as "slim and none."

The news isn't all bad for the Stamps as receiver Joe West is expected to return to the lineup after going down with a quad injury on the second day of training camp. Hufnagel also noted that rookie receiver Sederrik Cunningham will be activated off the practice roster. - Canadian Press

Jon Cornish didn't practice today. He suffered a concussion in the Stamps season opener against Montreal. According to head coach John Hufnagel, Cornish is still working to pass the first step of the concussion protocol. No determination has been made on his status for this weekend.

RB Jock Sanders wasn't at practice, he had flight issues (delays) getting back to Calgary.

Joe West was back on the field and took part in the full practice. He declares himself good to go for the weekend. Hufnagel is optimistic about West's return but will wait to see how his leg responds on Tuesday.

OL Federkeil was back in practice and was healthy. He missed the season opener with a stinger.
