The Toronto Argonauts added some size to their receiving corps, adding former Pro Bowler and NFL receiving yards leader David Boston.

"We are extremely excited about signing David. We have been looking for a big, physical receiver and he certainly fulfills that role. He has the size and speed to be a dominant player in our league as the wider field should fit well with his natural abilities," head coach Rich Stubler said in a statement. "Combined with returning receivers Arland Bruce III, Obed Cétoute, Patrick Johnson, Andre Talbot and Chad Rempel, David adds another powerful weapon to our receiving corps."

"We've been looking for a physical receiver and not only does David play physical but he has great speed," said Greg Mohns, the Argos assistant general manager, on Monday.

Boston, who was named to the Pro Bowl after leading the NFL in receiving in 2001, hasn't caught a pass in the NFL since 2005.

"I'm extremely excited to come to Toronto and compete, and hopefully win a Grey Cup championship," Boston said in a statement.  "I'm thankful for the opportunity the organization has given me and I'm looking forward to being at training camp."

Boston was the eighth player selected in the 1999 NFL Draft.   His NFL career, though, was cut short by injuries and some off-field issues.

Before the start of the 2004 season, he was suspended four games by the NFL after he was found to be in violation of the league's steroid policy.  Before he could return from suspension, he injured his knee and missed the entire season.

He played in five games with the Dolphins in 2005, but his season was cut short after he suffered another knee injury.

He was released by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on September 27, 2007 after being arrested for DUI.

"I'm very disappointed. ... For two years, it was a Cinderella story, and we had hoped he could come back and rejuvenate his career," said Bucs coach Jon Gruden at the time. "Unfortunately it did not work out."

Boston had 315 career receptions for 4,699 yards and 25 touchdowns in his NFL career.
