EDMONTON - The Edmonton Eskimos today announced that import defensive back Jonté Buhl has signed a multi-year contract extension.

The Texas A&M product started in all 18 games of the 2008 season racking up 49 defensive tackles, four special teams tackles, four knockdowns, four interceptions for 46 yards and one quarterback sack.  He also started in both playoff games, recording two defensive tackles. Buhl originally signed as a free agent at the beginning of the 2006 campaign.

“It's great to be back with the Eskimos for the next several years,” says Buhl.  “I am looking forward to being a part of the team I got my start with and to help the Green and Gold win another Grey Cup.”

“Jonté has been a consistent force for the defence,” says Eskimo General Manager and Director of Football Operations Danny Maciocia.  “We are very pleased to have him back.”
