The Calgary Stampeders added some depth on defence on Tuesday with the signing of import linebackers Tray Blackmon and Kurt Campbell.

Blackmon, who recorded 84 tackles over the past three seasons with Auburn, was named to the Sporting News SEC All-Freshman Team as well as the publication's Freshman All-American Second Team in 2006.

''Blackmon is a typical inside-the-box middle linebacker who has great football instincts and plays with a nasty streak,'' said Stampeders head coach/general manager John Hufnagel.

Campbell was originally drafted by the Green Bay Packers in the seventh round of the 2005 NFL Draft and also spent time with the Oakland Raiders and Tennessee Titans.

''Campbell is a very athletic outside linebacker who tested well, plays hard and shows a lot of versatility,'' added Hufnagel. ''They'll definitely be in the thick of the competition at camp.''
