The Calgary Stampeders signed import defensive linemen Justin Brown and E.J. Kuale on Thursday.
Brown has spent time with the NFL's Indianapolis Colts, NFL Europa's Frankfurt Galaxy, Arena Football League's Dallas Desperados and New Orleans VooDoo.
In his senior season at East Central Oklahoma he had 72 tackles, 10.5 sacks, 15 tackles for loss and three fumble recoveries. He was an American Football Coaches Association All-America choice and was named the Lone Star Conference North Defensive Lineman of the Year.
''Brown is a hard-working, high-motor player who was coached by Cornell Brown (Stamps defensive line coach) in NFL Europe and comes highly recommended,” said Stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel.
Kuale joins the Stamps following stints with the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs and New Orleans Saints.
He attended Louisiana State for his final two seasons of eligibility and played in 18 games for the Tigers, recording 36 tackles, six tackles for losses and four sacks. In his senior year, he had five tackles and a sack in the Southeastern Conference Championship Game.
“Kuale is a very athletic, versatile player who shows explosiveness and very good change of direction,” added Hufnagel.
