After week one of the regular season, the votes are in for the Gibson's Finest CFL Players of the Week, and the Toronto Argonauts have taken two of the four awards.
Running back Jamal Robertson was named CFL Offensive Player of the Week on the heels of his impressive performance in game one. Robertson rushed for 124 yards on 14 carries and had 3 catches for 53 yards in the Argos' 30-17 win over the Hamilton Tiger-Cats.
Saskatchewan Roughriders defensive end Steve Baggs received the honour for Defensive Player of the Week, thanks to a solid effort against the Lions on Friday. Baggs had two sacks, two defensive tackles, one pass deflection and also forced a fumble in the Riders' 28-24 victory.
Montreal Alouettes kicker Damon Duval was named Special Teams Player of the Week, going six-for-six on field goal attempts in his team's 40-27 win over the Calgary Stampeders. With that total, Duval matched his career high for field goals in a game, and his output for the game made up more than half of the Als' total scoring.
The award for Canadian Player of the Week went to defensive tackle Adriano Belli of the Argos. The 'Kissing Bandit' had two sacks and three tackles in the Boatmen's win over the Ticats, making life a nightmare for Hamilton's pivot Quinton Porter.
The players were chosen by a panel that includes TSN analysts Matt Dunigan and Duane Forde, as well as Pierre Vercheval of RDS.
