MISSISSAUGA, Ont. -- The Toronto Argonauts have released non-import defensive tackle Miguel Robede, the club announced Wednesday.

The first overall pick in the 2005 CFL draft, Robede was acquired by Toronto from the Calgary Stampeders in an off-season trade. It was hoped the Val d'Ore, Que., native could help replace the retired Adriano Belli on the Argonauts defensive line.

The six-foot-four, 278-pound Robede suffered a concussion last October and didn't see action the rest of the regular season or the playoffs.

Robede, who turns 30 later this month, played with the Miami Hurricanes in the NCAA before starring for the Laval Rouge et Or in Canadian university football.

The Argos also made another move Wednesday, releasing import defensive back Michael Grant.
