The Indianapolis Colts turn to the off-season recovering from one of their worst seasons in franchise history and according to a report the healing process could involve the CFL.

ESPN's John Clayton has speculated that there is an "outside chance" that the Colts could interview Montreal Alouettes head coach Marc Trestman for their vacant head coaching position.

The Colts are in pursuit of a new head coach after dismissing Jim Caldwell on Tuesday. Caldwell was fired three years after taking over in Indianapolis after posting a league-worst 2-14 record in 2011.

Trestman has one year left on his deal with Montreal and so any potential discussions between he and the Colts would first require the Als permission. Montreal owner Bob Wetenhall has not been sympathetic to the notion of losing his coach to the NCAA or NFL, although that dynamic could be different with just one year left on Trestman's current deal.

The Als coach could be a logical fit in Indianapolis, since Trestman spends his off-season mentoring young quarterbacks coming out of college. The Colts - who possess the first overall pick in this year's NFL Draft are expected to take Stanford pivot Andrew Luck with the No. 1 pick.
