Linebacker JC Sherritt will not be in the lineup when the Edmonton Eskimos take on the Hamilton Tiger-Cats on Friday (TSN, 8:30pm et/5:30pm pt).

Sherritt, who was named the CFL's Defensive Player of the Month on Wednesday, sat out practice this week due to an injury sustained in last week's loss in Calgary.

Sherritt leads the league with 104 tackles and is averaging eight tackles per game this season. By missing Friday's game, his projected total for the year will drop to 136 tackles, which would still be good enough to break the current record of 129 set by Calvin Tiggle in 1994.

Rookie linebacker Simoni Lawrence will get the start in Sherritt's place. Lawrence has appeared in 10 games this season and has eight defensive tackles, eight special teams tackles and a fumble recovery.
