The Calgary Stampeders have signed non-import punter Rob Maver to a contract extension.

Maver, who was eligible to become a free agent on February 15, was the CFL and West Division all-star punter in 2012 after leading the league with a net punting average of 36.2 yards. He punted the ball 112 times for 4,839 yards and a gross average of 43.2 yards per kick.

“Rob had a very good season in his first year as a CFL punter and I look forward to seeing him build on his 2012 season,” said head coach John Hufnagel, “The special teams were an essential component of the team's success this past season and Rob was an important contributor to that success.”

Maver was the Stamps' first-round selection, fifth overall, in the 2010 CFL Canadian Draf
