MONTREAL -- Guard Kristian Matte has signed a three-year contract extension with the Montreal Alouettes.

The six-foot-four 296-pound lineman played 11 games this season, mainly as a backup and in short yardage situations.

Matte, 27, was drafted seventh overall in 2010 from Concordia University.

"Kristian is developing nicely in our system," Alouettes general manager Jim Popp said in a statement. "He really contributed this past year and we expect him to continue playing more and more. He is ready to be a full time starter in the near future, if not now."
