The Calgary Stampeders announced non-import defensive lineman Junior Turner has signed a contract extension with the team on Monday. Terms of the deal were not available.

Turner, the ninth-overall pick in the 2011 Canadian Draft, played in 11 regular season games with Calgary last season as well as all three of their post-season games, including the 100th Grey Cup.

Turner played both defensive end and defensive tackle last season, recording 11 tackles and one sack.

"I'm pleased that we've come to terms with Junior on an extension," head coach and GM John Hufnagel said in a team statement. "His versatility is an asset to the team and I believe he's only scratched the surface of his potential. I look forward to seeing him continue to progress as he enters his third season."

"I'm very happy to be staying in Calgary," said Turner. "I love the city and Stampeders fans are the best in the CFL. We also have a great head coach and staff."
