Packers medical staff says no to signing Lions' Olafioye

It appears B.C. Lions offensive lineman Jovan Olafioye will not be signing with the Green Bay Packers.

According to profootballtalk.com, Olafioye was not signed for medical reasons, more specifically, the medication he takes due to a family history of high blood pressure. However, Olafioye said Green Bay doctors told him other teams may be willing to assume the risk.

"They're sure I'll be playing for somebody in the NFL this year," Olafioye told profootballtalk.com. "That was encouraging. They said my situation is controllable but they didn't want to take that risk. With their rules, they can't mess with my situation."

The report indicates more teams are interested in taking a look at Olafioye, including the Super Bowl champion Baltimore Ravens and Pittsburgh Steelers. However, the Packers were the only team that was planning to offer him a significant signing bonus.

The framework for a deal that would allow Olafioye to stay with the Lions has also been in place for some time. He is slated to become a free agent on February 15.
