CALGARY -- Linebacker Marc Calixte of the Calgary Stampeders announced his retirement Tuesday after 10 CFL seasons.

Calixte had been Calgary's longest-serving player after being selected in the first round, seventh overall, in the 2003 CFL draft out of the University of Tennessee-Martin. Calixte appeared in 147 regular-season games with the Stampeders, along with nine playoff games, and also was a member of the 2008 Grey Cup-winning squad.

The 34-year-old native of Laval, Que., was a special-teams standout, registering 91 career special-teams tackles. He also had 25 defensive tackles and two fumble recoveries.

"I'd like to thank the administration and the coaches of the Stampeders for having faith in me and in my abilities," he said in a statement. "These last 10 years in Calgary have been amazing and I'm very grateful to have been able to spend my entire football career with the Stampeders."
