In terms of bang for the buck, no CFL player delivered more in 2012 than Hamilton's Chris Williams. With a base salary of less than $50,000, Williams established himself as one of the most explosive players in the league.

Which makes it reasonable that he isn't choked up about playing for a similar amount during his third CFL season in 2013.

This week, Williams revealed his feelings by tweeting "im beefin with my squad im not going back" … despite the fact he has a year remaining on his contract.

The Ticats have offered to pay Williams more money through a new deal but that would require him to be under contract to Hamilton until at least through the 2014 season.

And Williams apparently has zero interest in that because he believes there is a job waiting for him in the National Football League. And he wants to get there as soon as possible.

So what are Chris Williams' choices? Well, he can come back to the CFL, play out his final year for $50,000 and then take his shot at the NFL.

Or, if he's convinced an NFL opportunity is awaiting him, he could sit out the entire 2013 CFL season rather than risk injury while making a near minimum CFL salary.

The Cats say they expect to see him at training camp in June. His agent, Dan Vertlieb, won't comment on any potential scenarios.

But we should get a strong indication of Williams' intentions based on whether or not he chooses to attend the Ticats week of off-season practices in April.
