TORONTO -- The Toronto Argonauts acquired veteran defensive lineman Jermaine Reid and two 2013 fifth-round picks from the Edmonton Eskimos on Friday for a third-round selection.

Reid, 29, a Toronto native, spent the last two seasons in Edmonton, registering 24 tackles and three sacks. Reid began his CFL career with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (2007-'11).

"Jermaine is an experienced Canadian defensive lineman who will fit well into our defence," Argos GM Jim Barker said in a statement. "We're excited to bring him home to Toronto and we know he's very excited to come home."

The six-foot-four, 275-pound Reid, a native of Pickering, Ont., played collegiately at the University of Akron. He was selected in the second round, ninth overall, in the 2007 CFL draft by Hamilton and has spent the off-season working as a construction engineer in Ohio.

"This move allows those closest to me to stay close and be an even greater part of my family's life," Reid said. "Having family close by will also help to enhance my focus for the football season.

"I was an Argonauts fan growing up and I've always wanted to play in Toronto. This situation couldn't be better."
