HAMILTON, Ont. - The Hamilton Tiger-Cats released veteran receiver Dave Stala on Tuesday.

Stala, 34, spent five seasons with Hamilton after signing with his hometown team as a free agent in 2009. Stala had 10 catches for 144 yards in 14 games in 2013.

Stala grew up in Hamilton and registered 263 catches for 3,336 yards and 20 TDs in 86 regular-season games with the Ticats. The six-foot-two, 198-pound former St. Mary's star began his CFL career with Montreal in 2003.

"Dave was a respected member of this team for five seasons," Ticats coach/GM Kent Austin said in a statement. "On behalf of the Tiger-Cats organization, I'd like to thank Dave for his efforts on and off of the field and wish him all the best in the future."
