Saskatchewan Roughriders running back Kory Sheets is taking a shot down South.
The 2013 Grey Cup's Most Valuable Player has signed with the Oakland Raiders.
Sheets, 28, had played the last two seasons with the Roughriders, compiling 2,875 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns in 31 games. He set a Grey Cup record for rushing yards in the 101st Game this past November in Regina, totaling 197 yards.
This is not Sheets' first NFL attempt as he was initially signed by the San Francisco 49ers in 2009. He would not see any game action with San Francisco but would appear in two games with the Miami Dolphins later in the 2009 season.
A training camp injury would derail his 2010 season and he would be waived in 2011 by the Dolphins. He signed to the Carolina Panthers' practice squad that same year but failed to see a game.
Sheets was named a 2013 CFL All-Star, finishing second in the League in rushing yards (1,598) behind only Calgary's Jon Cornish.
