The Winnipeg Blue Bombers announced on Monday that they had signed Nationals LB Teague Sherman and DT Jake Thomas to contract extensions.
"Both of these individuals are extremely high character guys, while their play on the field just continues to improve," said general manager Kyle Walters in a release. "Teague has progressively made more and more plays through the start of training camp and the first two games of 2014, building on his first season, while Jake continues to be solid in the middle of our defensive line. We're very pleased to lock both of these guys up."
Signed as a free agent in December of 2012 out of the University of Manitoba, Sherman is in his second season with the Bombers. The 26-year-old appeared in 13 games last season for the team and its first two in 2014.
Thomas is in the midst of his third season with the club, taken in the fourth round of the 2012 CFL Draft out of Acadia. The 23-year-old is a native of Douglas, New Brunswick. This is Thomas's first season as a starter.
