Former Hamilton Tiger-Cats wide receiver Chris Williams was released by the Chicago Bears on Saturday.

Williams was signed by the Bears off of the New Orleans Saints practice squad prior to Week 17 of last season, but was inactive for the week's contest.

Williams had four receptions for 94 yards and one touchdown in preseason games with the Bears.

In two seasons with the Tiger-Cats in 2011 and 2012, Williams caught 153 passes for 2,362 yards with 17 touchdowns. He also returned five punts and on kickoff for touchdowns.

Should Williams return to the CFL, the Tiger-Cats own his rights based on the terms negotiated to allow him to join the Saints in 2013.
