The pass rush of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats is set to get a whole lot better soon.

The Tiger-Cats announced the signing of defensive end Stevie Baggs to a contract.

''Stevie is a quick, high-energy player who will help create havoc for the opposition when teamed up with the defensive players we currently have on the roster,'' general manager Bob O'Billovich said. ''He's also a great character guy who will be a welcomed addition in our locker room and the community.''

The 2009 West Division All-Star recorded 80 defensive tackles, eight tackles for losses and 16 quarterback sacks in four previous CFL seasons with the Winnipeg Blue Bombers (2006-07), Edmonton Eskimos (2007) and Saskatchewan Roughriders (2008-09).

Last season, Baggs finished tied for the league lead in quarterback sacks with 12 while playing with the Roughriders.

After the season, Baggs signed with the NFL's Arizona Cardinals but was recently released and became a free agent after being waived through the league.
