MONTREAL -- The Montreal Alouettes have signed running backs Emmanuel Marc and Chris Jennings to the team's practice roster.

The moves come one day after the team announced that leading rusher Brandon Whitaker would miss the rest of the season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament.

Marc was on the Alouettes practice roster in 2010 and 2011.

The five-foot-10, 205-pound native of Spring Valley, N.Y., played for the Hudson Valley Vikings' of the National Junior College Athletic Association, rushing for 3,273 yards and scoring 30 touchdowns in his college career.

Jennings spent part of the 2009 season on the Alouettes practice roster behind Avon Cobourne and Whitaker. The Alouettes released him that season so he could sign the Cleveland Browns of the NFL, where he played nine games over two seasons. He had 220 rushing yards and a touchdown and 56 receiving yards while with Cleveland.

The five-foot-10, 218-pound native of Yuma, Ariz., also suited up for the Hartford Colonials of the UFL in 2010.

The Alouettes also announced the release of non-import receiver Liam Mahoney from the practice roster.
