TORONTO -- Montreal linebacker Shea Emry picked up a pair of CFL weekly awards for his standout performance in the Alouettes' big win over division rival Toronto last weekend.

Emry picked up top defensive player and top Canadian honours for his efforts in Montreal's 24-12 victory last Sunday. The native of Richmond, B.C., registered four tackles, one sack and one interception as the Alouettes moved four points up on the second-place Argos in the CFL East Division standings.

Emry intercepted a Jarious Jackson pass with 9:11 remaining in the fourth quarter and returned it 46 yards for the touchdown. The Argos trailed by just five points prior to Emry's big play.

Edmonton running back Hugh Charles won the top offensive player award. He scored a touchdown and had a career-high 152 rushing yards in the Eskimos' 37-20 win over Saskatchewan.

Charles ran for 119 yards in the second half as Edmonton improved its post-season chances, moving two points behind third-place Saskatchewan in the West and four points ahead of Hamilton in the crossover race. The Tiger-Cats are third in the East but would lose their playoff spot if they finish behind the fourth-place team in the West.

Edmonton kicker Grant Shaw picked up the weekly special teams award, kicking three field goals and four extra points in the Eskimos' victory.

The CFL's weekly awards are presented by Gibson's Finest Canadian Whisky.
