Toronto Argonauts quarterback Ricky Ray is scheduled to see doctors following Wednesday's practice to assess whether or not he can play Friday's home game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers.

Head coach Scott Milanovich was optimistic that his starting quarterback could go but added the team won't make an announcement until Thursday.

Ray is recuperating from a strained MCL that he suffered in the first quarter of a loss in Montreal on Sept. 23.

Backup quarterback Jarius Jackson has carried the load in Ray's absence. With Jackson calling the signals, the Argos won on the road in Winnipeg before losing a one-sided affair at home to Saskatchewan and again to Montreal last week.

Also seeing doctors on Wednesday is running back Chad Kackert. Kackert has recovered from bruised ribs and should return to the lineup Friday after missing two games.
