EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Eskimos are bringing back Cory Boyd.

The CFL club announced on Sunday that it had re-signed the running back after releasing him on Oct. 11.

The Eskimos say they are bringing Boyd back into the fold because of an injury to fellow running back Hugh Charles.

"We are unsure of Hugh Charles' availability due to the injury he sustained in Friday's game," Eskimos head coach Kavis Reed said in a statement. "As a precaution, we are bringing in Cory who already knows our system."

Boyd originally joined the Eskimos after being released by the Toronto Argonauts in August.

The 27-year-old played four games with Edmonton, registering a modest 18 carries for 76 yards and four catches for 40 yards.

When Boyd was released from Toronto, he was the league's leading rusher with 80 carries for 447 yards and two touchdowns. He also hauled in 23 passes for 70 yards and two touchdowns.
