EDMONTON -- The Edmonton Eskimos won't have running back Hugh Charles in the lineup for Sunday's pivotal game in Montreal.

He will be sidelined due to a right knee injury suffered in last week's 39-19 loss to the B.C. Lions, the Eskimos said Friday.

Charles has been one of Edmonton's top offensive players this season. In 16 games, he has eight touchdowns, 887 rushing yards and 522 passing yards.

After Charles was hurt, the Eskimos re-signed running back Cory Boyd as a precautionary move. Boyd, who had been released Oct. 11, originally joined the Eskimos after being released by the Toronto Argonauts in August.

Boyd played four games with Edmonton, registering 18 carries for 76 yards and four catches for 40 yards.

When he was released from Toronto, he was the league's leading rusher with 80 carries for 447 yards and two touchdowns. Boyd also hauled in 23 passes for 70 yards and two touchdowns.
