MONTREAL -- Alouettes linebacker Marc-Olivier Brouillette avoided serious injury Sunday when he landed awkwardly in a pileup after a kickoff return in the East Division final.

Brouillette had to be taken off the field on a stretcher. After the game, Montreal head coach Marc Trestman said Brouillette suffered a concussion but was otherwise doing well.

"Thank you all for the messages and support," tweeted Brouillette about an hour after the game. "Everything looks good and I will be okay."

Toronto won the game 27-20 to advance to the Grey Cup next Sunday.

The six-foot 230-pound Brouillette was hurt early in the fourth quarter as Argonauts kick returner Chad Owens was tackled near midfield.

The 50,112 spectators at Olympic Stadium were hushed as players from both sides immediately kneeled in the vicinity as medical staff immobilized Brouillette as a precaution.

After a lengthy delay, he was wheeled off the field. The Argonauts were leading 24-20 at the time.

Brouillette, a 26-year-old Montreal native, is in his third season with the Alouettes. He had 28 tackles, one sack and two fumble recoveries in the regular season.
