The Hamilton Tiger-Cats announced on Tuesday that they will play their 2013 home schedule at the University of Guelph.
Alumni Stadium, home of the CIS Guelph Gryphons, has recently undergone an $18 million renovation and, with temporary seating, could reach a capacity of 15,000.
"With the University of Guelph's Alumni Stadium located just 17 minutes from the City of Hamilton's northern border, combined with its gorgeous setting, we think our fans will love this solution," said Tiger-Cats president Scott Mitchell in a statement. "It's also a perfect fit for our very successful regional marketing campaign and we look forward to working with University of Guelph to make this happen."
The team just completed its final season at Ivor Wynne Stadium, which is scheduled to be demolished this month. A new stadium is expected to be ready for the 2014 CFL season, which left the team without a home field for 2013.
Tuesday's announcement does not preclude the Ticats from playing one or two games out of their market, like Moncton or Quebec City.
Ron Joyce Stadium in Hamilton, home of the McMaster Marauders of the CIS and the Tiger-Cats during training camp, was not made available to the team.
