TORONTO -- Chad Owens has reached another high point in his stellar season after winning the CFL offensive player of the week award for his role in leading the Toronto Argonauts to a berth in the 100th Grey Cup.

The Toronto slotback registered a club playoff record 207 yards on 11 receptions in the Argonauts' 27-20 win over the Montreal Alouettes in the East Division final on Sunday. He had a 70-yard reception early in the third quarter that set up a momentum-grabbing touchdown for Toronto.

Owens is the East's nominee for the CFL's Outstanding Player of the Year award after racking up a CFL-record 3,863 all-purpose yards in the regular season and leading the league with 1,328 receiving yards.

It was also another milestone for the West's outstanding player nominee. Calgary running back Jon Cornish was named top Canadian after helping the Stampeders advance to the Grey Cup with a 34-29 win over B.C. in the West final.

The New Westminster, B.C., native ran for a game high 112 yards on 18 carries and also added 42 yards on two receptions.

Cornish led the league with 1,457 yards in the regular season, a record for a Canadian running back.

Argonauts linebacker Marcus Ball was named the defensive player of the week with five tackles and two interceptions.

Ball intercepted two Anthony Calvillo passes in the second half, helping prevent the Alouettes from making a late comeback.

Lions kicker Paul McCallum took special teams honours. McCallum was a perfect 5-for-5 on field goal attempts and converted 2-of-2 extra points in the Lions' loss to Calgary.
