WINNIPEG -- The Winnipeg Blue Bombers signed slotback Cory Watson and offensive guard Chris Greaves to contract extensions Wednesday.

The two Canadians were starters with the CFL club last season.

"We are very pleased to lock up two of our young, solid, Canadian players for the foreseeable future," vice-president and GM Joe Mack said in a release. "We've been very pleased with Chris's progress from the day we drafted him, and feel he is continuing his progression into a great offensive lineman in this league.

"Cory is a big, physical target for us that has come a long way since he joined our club out of the draft in 2010, and we are looking for him to have a breakout season in 2013."

The six-foot-three, 213-pound Watson, a native of Dollard des Ormeaux, Que., had 35 catches for 344 yards and a touchdown last season, his third with Winnipeg. The Blue Bombers selected Watson ninth overall in the 2010 CFL draft.

Greaves, a six-foot-five, 306-pound Toronto native, started all 18 games last season at left guard. Winnipeg selected the former University of Western Ontario defensive lineman in the sixth round, 45th overall, in the 2010 CFL draft before converting him to the offensive line.
