The Marc Trestman in Montreal is not coming to an end. At least not yet.

Fox NFL analyst Jimmie Johnson tweeted on Friday morning that it looked like Trestman would be leaving his post as head coach of the CFL's Alouettes to join the NFL's Chicago Bears.

"Looks like 2 of my guys getting NFL jobs..Chud Cleveland and my QB coach at U Trestman to Chicago," tweeted the former Super Bowl winning coach.

However, Trestman later denied the rumour in an email to the Montreal Gazette.  "I have not heard from the Bears and have responded in that manner on multiple levels," wrote Trestman.

The Chicago Tribune is also reporting that the Bears still plan on interviewing three more candidates this weekend.

For his part, Johnson clarified his comments later in the day via Twitter.

"I tweeted this morning It LOOKS like 2 of my guys were getting NFL jobs not that Trestman got it!" he wrote Friday afternoon.

If Trestman were to land the Bears job, he would be replacing Lovie Smith. Smith was let go after nine seasons as the Bears head coach. He guided the team to a 10-6 record this season but Chicago missed the playoffs on a tiebreaker.

Trestman joined the Alouettes in 2008. During his five seasons at the helm, he led the Alouettes to two Grey Cups and four East division titles compiling a record of 59-31.

Before joining the Alouettes, Trestman spent many years as a coach in the United States at both the pro and college levels. His previous NFL experience includes stints with Oakland, San Francisco, Detroit, Miami, Arizona, Minnesota and Tampa Bay.

Trestman had also served as quarterbacks coach under Johnson at the University of Miami in the early 1980s.

Trestman is widely known as a quarterback guru and has worked with pivots such as Anthony Calvillo in the CFL along with Steve Young, Rich Gannon, Bernie Kosar and Jake Plummer in the NFL.
