The Calgary Stampeders re-signed non-import safety Eric Fraser on Thursday. Fraser was Calgary's first-round selection (eighth overall) in the 2009 CFL Canadian Draft and joined the Stampeders in 2010.
"I'm pleased that Eric has chosen to remain with the Stampeders," said stampeders head coach and general manager John Hufnagel. "He has continued to grow as a player during his three years here and believe that the best is yet to come."
The 2012 season was Fraser's first as a starter and he finished the season with 48 tackles and two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.
Fraser also started all three of the Stamps' playoff games and recorded a total of 10 tackles.
"I'm happy to be staying in Calgary," said Fraser. "I've recently started a new job in corporate Calgary working with ex-Stampeder Bruce Covernton and this city is now my home. I'm looking forward to the 2013 season and to getting back to the Grey Cup."
Fraser has played in 53 regular-season games and five playoff over three seasons in Calgary.
He would have become a free agent on Feb. 15.
