QMJHL: Crosby nets 50 in 50

Sidney Crosby scored his 50th goal in his 50th game as the Rimouski Oceanic extended their winning streak to 13 games with a 7-4 victory over the Lewiston Maineiacs Sunday in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League.

Crosby exploded for two goals and three assists after being held pointless for the first time in 38 games in Friday's match against the Gatineau Olympiques.

The native of Cole Harbour, N.S., leads the QMJHL with 120 points. Chicoutimi's Maxime Boisclair, who had played seven more games than Crosby, is second with 88.

Danny Roussin also had two goals for the Oceanic (34-17-4-3), while Francis Charette, Michal Sersen and Sebastien Aspirot added singles. Mario Scalzo Jr. had three assists.

In other QMJHL action, it was: Acadie-Bathurst 5, Prince Edward Island 3; Gatineau 6, Chicoutimi 4; and Drummondville 6, Halifax 3.

On Saturday, it was: Halifax Mooseheads 9, Victoriaville Tigres 0; Shawinigan Cataractes 3, Baie-Comeau Drakkar 2; Lewiston Maineiacs 4, Acadia-Bathurst Titan 2; Cape Breton Screaming Eagles 4, Rouyn-Noranda Huskies 1; and the Chicoutimi Sagueneens 5, Val-d'Or Foreurs 1.

At Rimouski, Chad Denny had a goal and an assist for the Maineiacs (28-22-7-0). Eric Castonguay, Mathieu Aubin and Ryan Murphy had the other Lewiston goals.

Jean-Michel Filiatrault made 22 saves for Rimouski, while Jaroslav Halak made 34 saves for Lewiston.

Rimouski pulled to within one point of Chicoutimi in the East Division. Chicoutimi has a game in hand.

Titan 5, Rocket 3

At Charlottetown, Maxime Morier, Mathieu Roy, Marc-Andre Cote, Chris Hodgson and Dave Duclos-Bertrand scored to lead Acadie-Bathurst (15-31-6-3). Yanick Charron, Riku Korpinen and Louis-Philippe Lachance replied for the Rocket (20-29-5-0).

Olympiques 6, Sagueneens 4

At Gatineau, Que., Petr Pohl scored three goals and had an assist to lead the Olympiques to a win over the Sagueneens. Sam Roberts scored two goals and had an assist for Gatineau (27-24-5-3), while Guillaume Labrecque also scored. Maxime Boisclair had two goals and an assist to lead Chicoutimi (34-15-5-3), with Maxim Chamberland and Nicolas Marcotte also scoring.

Voltigeurs 6, Mosseheads 3

At Drummondville, Que., Louis-Philippe Martin scored three goals and added an assist to lead the Voltigeurs over Halifax. Alexandre Demers had a goal and two assists for Drummondville (21-22-7-5), while Maxime Aubut also scored. Francois-Pierre Guenette led Halifax (34-12-8-2) with two goals and an assist. Jean-Francois Brault scored the other Mooseheads goal.
