The Quebec Remparts are on fire and Angelo Esposito is stoking the flames.
The 18-year-old centre scored two goals and added an assist Wednesday to power the Remparts to 5-2 win over the Chicoutimi Sagueneens in QMJHL action.
The win gives Quebec their fifth in a row, raising their season record to 10-7-0-1.
Louis-Philippe Lacroix scored his first of the year in the first period to open the scoring for Quebec.
Joel Champagne replied for Sagueneens in the second frame, but shortly after Esposito netted a power-play marker to make it 2-1, and less than a minute later Jonathan Audy-Marchessault, with an assist from Esposito, put the Remparts up 3-1.
Elsewhere in the QMJHL, it was: Huskies 3 Olympiques 2 (OT); and Titan 3 Wildcats 2.
At Chicoutimi, Que., Sagueneens (9-10-0-0) centre Nicolas Deschamps made it 3-2 in third period, but that's as close as it got.
Marc-Olivier Vallerand, Esposito, short-handed, and Olivier Daunais each scored in the third to put the game out of reach.
Quebec's Kevin Desfosses made 26 saves for the win, while Chicoutimi's Bobby Nadeau blocked 25-of-31 shots in the loss.
Huskies 3 Olympiques 2 (OT)
At Rouyn-Noranda, Que., Hugo Carpentier scored two goals, including the overtime winner as the Huskies downed Gatineau (12-8-1-2).
Ivan Vishnevskiy scored a goal and an assists Rouyn-Noranda (11-5-2-1), while Jean-Philip Chabot and Claude Giroux, his 12th of the year, replied for the Olympiques.
The Huskies outshot the Olympiques 37-12.
Titan 3 Wildcats 2
At Bathurst, N.B., Eric Faille scored the deciding goal with less than two minutes left to lift the Titan over Moncton (7-11-1-1).
Tomy Joly and Jordan Clendenning also tallied for the Titan (8-7-1-1).
Adam Bezak scored both of the Wildcats' goals on the power play, with Matt Eagles chipping in with two assists.
Antoine Tardif gets the win for the Titan with a 25-save performance, while Moncton's Nicola Riopel suffers the loss after stopping 37 shots.
